Breaking news!

Haley Barbour isn't as stupid about some things as most Republicans seem to be.

Other things, sure. But not some things.

Not when cheap labor and high profits are at stake.

While cheap labor and high profits are indeed at stake, the other issue is not only will no Anglo-Americans consider bringing in the lettuce, apple or cherry crops, but even second-generation Latinos or Latinas won't consider it - the stigma.

So there is some justification for the matter. However - and of course, this is the big "however" - people such as the governor of Mississippi want to utterly break the back of the UAW (United Farm Workers). In fact, he and others like him, would like to use immigrants with a green card or an amnesty pass - what it would be, essentially - to break all the unions they could: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Carpenters Union and the list goes on.

The sad facts of the matter are they probably will succeed. That's what the economy we have seems to dictate.
