Marine Cpl. Jacob C. Leicht of Kerrville, Texas, the 1,000th American serviceman killed in Afghanistan, would have turned 25 this July 4.

The young guys who never get to grow any older, that's what hurts about war. They are a close rival to all the civilians who die, just because they are in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

It's why wars should only be fought, if they have to be. Moreover, in this country, wars should take an act of Congress. That's what the Founding Fathers intended, to make it harder than the hell fighting a war is, to start one.
