Lessons learned…

…or not. Stanley Kutler
The primary lesson of Vietnam seems to be that it is a lesson lost.
Yep, so it seems.

Who was it that said, "Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it?"

Sadly, it seems that President Obama, one of the most intelligent guys we've had in the White House for some time, might be falling into that trap. It might be his lack of military experience that is catching up with him.

President Obama is taking what he hears from his generals - mostly positive, since that is how they talk to their superiors - and going with that. Of course, those of us who lived through the 1960s, or read about it later, know that is exactly the scenario that led then President Johnson down the path he wouldn't get off.

The phrase "light at the end of the tunnel" probably never got used, as many times, as it was during the Vietnam War.

The question now before us all is how do we convince President Obama to tread lightly with our troops, and finally, just bring them home?
